Quiz: Which Vikings Character Are You?

which vikings character are you

History remembers Vikings as fearless warriors and seafarers. But the ‘Vikings’ series showed us another side: their doubts, fears, hopes, and dreams. While creating this quiz, I immersed myself in an amazing world where each character is not just a historical figure, but a living person whose decisions and choices resonate remarkably with our everyday dilemmas.

“Vikings”: When History Comes Alive on Screen

The story behind creating “Vikings” is a fascinating tale in itself. Michael Hirst, the series creator, spent years researching Scandinavian culture before starting production. He consulted with historians, studied ancient texts, and examined archaeological findings. The result exceeded all expectations: the series not only gathered an impressive audience (by the finale of the sixth season, it was watched by millions of viewers worldwide) but also sparked a genuine surge of interest in Scandinavian culture.

The filming took place in Ireland, and locals still tell stories about how entire villages were transformed into Viking settlements. The production designers recreated lifestyle details with incredible accuracy: from fabric patterns to the shape of oars on longships. Even the characters’ tattoos weren’t random – each carried a specific meaning connected to Norse mythology.

Why Take a Vikings Quiz: More Than Just Entertainment

I remember a case from my own experience: after watching the series, I became interested in Viking combat techniques and joined a historical reenactment club. It turned out many others came there inspired by “Vikings.” And you know what? It changed some participants’ lives – some got into blacksmithing, others began studying ancient languages.

Our quiz is a way to continue this journey of self-discovery through the lens of the series. Each question is based on real situations from characters’ lives, their choices, and the consequences of those choices. For example, when you answer a question about how to deal with a captured enemy, you’re not just choosing between conventional “good” and “evil” – you’re delving into the complex honor and moral system of ancient Scandinavians.

Viking Culture: Breaking Stereotypes

While working on the quiz questions, I constantly cross-referenced historical sources. Did you know that Vikings were not only warriors but also skilled diplomats? They created a complex system of international trade, and their ships reached Byzantium and the shores of modern-day Canada.

The series excellently portrays how Vikings viewed power and leadership. Like the characters in “Yellowstone,” they understood the importance of protecting their land and traditions while being able to adapt to new challenges. The Thing – a public assembly where crucial issues were decided – was a prototype of modern democracy. Even a king couldn’t make key decisions unilaterally. This system of checks and balances is reflected in our characters’ personalities.

The role of women in Viking society deserves special attention. Archaeological findings confirm that women could be warriors, rulers, and priestesses. The Völsunga saga mentions the Valkyrie Brunhild, whose image resonates with Lagertha’s character.

Main Characters: Personality Analysis

Each character in “Vikings” is a universe unto themselves, with their own principles, fears, and dreams, and now we’ll reveal the most striking traits of those heroes who became part of our quiz.

Ragnar Lothbrok: Revolutionary with a Poet’s Soul

When creating quiz questions related to Ragnar, we tried to convey the complexity of his nature. This is a man who started as a simple farmer, but his curiosity and strategic thinking, like forces of nature, changed the course of history. Interestingly, historical chronicles differ in describing the real Ragnar – some consider him a composite of several historical figures.

In the series, Ragnar is shown as a new type of leader. He’s not just a strong warrior – he’s a thinker who understands that the world is changing, and Vikings must change with it. His relationship with the monk Athelstan symbolizes the collision and interpenetration of two different cultures.

Lagertha: Strength That Needs No Proof

Lagertha’s character is based on descriptions of a real female warrior from Saxo Grammaticus’s chronicles. In the series, she undergoes an amazing transformation: from a young shieldmaiden to a wise ruler. Her story is about staying true to yourself in an ever-changing world.

While working on questions related to Lagertha, we paid special attention to her ability to make difficult decisions. For instance, her choice to remain a shieldmaiden instead of accepting a traditional wife’s role. Or her decision to support her former husband in his riskiest ventures.

Bjorn Ironside: When Legend Is Your Parents

Bjorn’s story is particularly interesting from a psychological perspective. What’s it like when your parents are living legends? The series beautifully shows his journey: from wanting to prove he’s worthy of his father’s name to understanding the need to find his own path.

Bjorn inherited the best qualities of both parents: Ragnar’s strategic thinking and Lagertha’s unbreakable will. But his main achievement is that he managed to become himself. In the quiz, we tried to reflect this struggle between legacy and individuality.

Floki: When Madness Borders on Genius

Floki is one of the series’ most extraordinary characters. His image is based on Norwegian sagas about shipbuilders, but the show’s creators added depth by making him a conduit between the world of humans and the world of gods.

In working on quiz questions related to Floki, we tried to convey this duality of his nature. How can one person be simultaneously a brilliant engineer and a religious fanatic? A seer and a murderer? A loyal friend and a traitor? This complexity makes him one of the most interesting quiz results.

Why These Characters?

Choosing characters for the quiz was a complex process. We selected heroes not only based on their popularity but also on how fully they reflect different aspects of human personality. Each represents a certain path of development, a certain way of interacting with the world.

Ragnar embodies the desire for change and readiness to pay a high price for it. His story teaches us that sometimes you need to risk everything for your dream. Lagertha shows that strength can manifest differently: both in the ability to fight and in the ability to forgive. Bjorn demonstrates the importance of finding your own path, even if you grow up in the shadow of greatness. And Floki reminds us how important it is to stay true to your beliefs, even if the whole world thinks you’re mad.

The series has many other bright characters: Rollo with his internal struggle, Athelstan embodying a cultural bridge between two worlds, Ivar whose physical weakness is compensated by strength of spirit. But the chosen four most fully reflect various aspects of human nature.

Taking the quiz, you don’t just learn which hero you resemble most. You explore different facets of your own personality. Maybe in some situations you think like pragmatic Ragnar, while in others you show Lagertha’s determination. Perhaps you relate to Floki’s creative nature or Bjorn’s desire to exceed expectations.

The Viking story told in the series is not just a saga about conquests and battles. It’s a tale about people who lived a thousand years ago but faced the same challenges we do today: how to stay true to yourself in a changing world? How to find balance between tradition and progress? What’s more important – personal ambition or society’s good?

These questions are relevant today, and that’s why our quiz is more than just entertainment. It’s an opportunity to look at yourself through the lens of history, understand your strengths, and possibly discover qualities you didn’t even suspect you had. After all, each of us has a bit of Ragnar, Lagertha, Bjorn, and Floki – we just need to listen to the voice of our ancestors.
